Fans of the Netflix hit “Queer Eye” and competition series, “Next in Fashion” are well aware Tan France knows a thing or two about elevating one’s style. While exclusively speaking to Heavy in April 2024, the fashion designer shared his views about spring and summer trends, saving money while shopping, and how one’s individual style can shine through while taking inspiration from others.

During his interview with Heavy, France, who has partnered with Citi Shop, stated that he wants his fashion-focused fans to know he has found the browser extension helpful when it comes to shopping without overspending.

“I love a saving, regardless of how much it is, I love a saving. I want to know that I’m getting the best deal out there. And so the Citi Shop browser extension is the easiest tool, in my opinion. The best tool,” said France.

He stated that the browser has made shopping sales easier for him, as the best deals from 5,000 merchants immediately pop up.

“When you are shopping, you don’t have to search for the deal. It populates. As soon as you are on that website, it lets you know if there is [a deal] and what it is. And so I’m no longer hunting around,” said the “Queer Eye” star.

Tan France Explained Why He Does Not Care About Trends

While speaking to Heavy, France stated that the Citi Shop browser will be useful for those who want to purchase a particular trend without breaking the bank. While discussing the topic of trends for this spring and summer season, France stated that he is most excited about “oversized suiting,” “cropped boxy little suits,” “white dresses [and] white skirts,” and the implementation of the color red.

France clarified, however, that he does not “really care about

‘Sustainable Fashion’ Needs A Breakthrough. Here’s A Blueprint For It

Fashion is an odd industry. Not much of how it works makes sense. Products are designed by people who don’t know how they’re made and made by people who have little influence over what they’re making despite being manufacturing experts.

Most fashion business models rely on outdated forecasting models and arbitrary minimum order quantities; winter products enter shops in summer and vice versa. A significant volume of clothes produced are never sold (due to overproduction, tied to minimum order quantities) and so are incinerated or shredded for low-grade material uses, like stuffing mattresses.

This business model has been economically sustainable for brands by outsourcing manufacturing to factories in developing countries (often based on third-party audits–not site visits). ‘Outsourcing’ means brands procure finished products from garment manufacturers, who conduct materials sourcing, product R&D and development on behalf of the brands. Brand involvement is typically the approval of samples, price negotiation and order placement. But this approach is no longer ‘sustainable’ in social, economic, or environmental terms, and procuring products without knowing where and how they are made is becoming more risky than ever. Just this week, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) was adopted in Europe, and a facet of this will be a digital product passport (DPP) for every textile product sold on the EU market, containing detailed materials, design and production data, as well as recycling instructions.

Today’s fashion industry operates fractured, dividing the brand (the ‘creative’) from production (the ‘technical’). The arbiters of the industry–designers–have long been educated to uphold their ‘vision’ and aesthetic tendencies at the expense of all else, and they are at the top of the food chain when it comes to conceiving products that drive company revenue. But designers (and buyers) in the Global

When tradition meets modern fashion

What’s the story

In a world where fashion trends come and go, traditional attire stands as a testament to cultural heritage and timeless style.

Yet, incorporating these pieces into daily wear can seem daunting.

This article explores how to adapt traditional clothing for modern life, ensuring that the beauty of cultural garments is not lost in the back of our closets.

Understanding traditional attire

Traditional attire often carries significant cultural symbolism and history.

From the intricate patterns of an Indian sari to the bold colors of an African dashiki, these garments tell stories.

However, their unique designs can make them appear out-of-place in everyday settings.

The key is to respect their origins while finding ways to integrate them into contemporary wardrobes.

Modern twists on classic pieces

The fusion of traditional attire with everyday fashion requires a delicate balance.

It involves either toning down or highlighting certain elements of the garment to fit daily life while maintaining its cultural significance.

This might include reducing the number of embellishments or wearing traditional blouses with contemporary pieces like jeans or skirts, making them more adaptable for regular use without losing their traditional charm.

Tips for everyday ethnic wear

Begin by subtly blending traditional accessories into your daily attire.

Opt for a Peruvian scarf or Kenyan beaded jewelry to introduce a global flair to your ensemble.

These small yet distinct elements can elevate your style with cultural elegance.

Integrating such pieces is an effortless way to celebrate heritage without dominating your overall look, offering a sophisticated edge to your regular fashion choices.

Customize your garments

To adapt traditional attire for everyday use, consider customizing these garments for enhanced comfort and practicality.

This could involve shortening dresses that are too long for daily activities or altering tight clothing

7 Beauty and Wellness Tips from Victoria Beckham, In Honor of Her 50th Birthday

Hairstylist Ken Paves is the man behind Beckham’s long, brunette locks. In recent years, they’ve settled on a thick, lustrous look, with natural, slightly undone waves. Her hair always looks polished and healthy–especially with the English toffee highlights she’s added in recently, which add subtle depth and dimension.

It’s no secret that Victoria and David often work out together under the watchful eye of their personal trainer Bobby Rich, who has been working with them for years. While relatable snaps of VB posted on Instagram show her lying theatrically on the floor post-workout, Rich told Vogue that both she and her husband are the definition of diligent when it comes to their respective exercise routines. “[Working out] is just part of her lifestyle… it’s something she wants and has to do and it sets her up for the day,” he said, explaining that they unfailingly train together five days a week, either virtually or in person.

In the last five years, Victoria has switched to training with weights–“she does a lot of dumbbell, barbell and bodyweight work,” alongside functional and compound movements–which has improved her muscle tone and strength. Weight training is also recognized as a great workout for women to try as they reach the perimenopause, when bone density and muscle mass naturally start to decrease. “The difference in Victoria’s muscle now is that it’s not necessarily bigger, but the quality of muscle and the health she has from having stronger joints, tendons and ligaments is marked,” Rich said.

Travel Style Tips From ‘Queer Eye’ Star Tan France

As Queer Eye’s fashion expert, Tan France built a reputation on the Netflix reboot for giving transformational makeovers, possessing sharp style sensibilities and leading a relentless campaign for people to French tuck their shirts.

Forbes Travel Guide caught up with France as the Fab Five shoots season nine in Las Vegas, and the Emmy winner revealed that he’s working on his first scripted role. He couldn’t say more about the project, other than it will debut this summer, but he did share plane outfit tips, the two travel destinations he visits on repeat and why castmate Antoni Porowski may have some competition in the kitchen.

What should travelers wear for a long-haul flight while still looking chic?

Here’s my take: I don’t get dressed up. I just wear the nicest version of travel clothes I can find. I like to keep it really slick and just wear all one color. I kind of fall into a rotation where a couple months at a time, I will wear a certain color palette. Right now, I’m in my camel era.

I have these Guest in Residence camel pants that you could liken to pajama pants, but they’re solid. They’re cashmere. They feel gorgeous. And they look dressy enough where I could see Gigi [Hadid, the luxury knitwear brand’s founder] in her heels wearing these. They’re very chic. And then I wear a camel-colored T-shirt that is from Uniqlo and a camel sweater. Those things combined create a really sophisticated look.

Sometimes, I’ll put a large black overcoat over it, a duster coat that comes down to almost my ankles. Then as the flight gets cooler, I’ve got layers I can take off. And no matter how many
